Hey guys, i got a big issue with my PC after installing the latest Samsung magician 4.5 update. Everytime my Windows 7 boots i get a split second blue screen and the PC reboots. I found out that the update somehow changed my dive letters so that my drive c: is now e: and I got an 600mb partition as c:
I tried to change the drive letter via diskpart in cmd mode but the PC still won't boot and changed the letters back.
And ideas?

Solution
I'm having same issue with the new RAPID mode as well. Spoke to Samsung Support and what they had me do was hit F8 at start till i get the option to select safe mode. Instead of selecting safe mode, they told me to select Last Known Good Configuration.

It worked for me, and the rep said that he's tried it with other cx's and its worked every time. Downside is, we can't use the new RAPID mode until they fix the issue.

Also, they told me to send the some info that they'll send to the engineers to find out whats causing the bluescreeninng. This is the email they sent me:

*EDIT*
Was PM'd by a rep from Samsung, they thank us for all the info we've sent them, but they asked me to take down the email part because they've collected alot of...

/EDIT

I suggest you and anyone having the issue do the same.

Solution
Thanks so much for the F8 use last known configuration answer. I thought I'd killed my computer for a while there.

Phew, I can wipe the sweat from my brow now!

I had the same problem this morning. I recall choosing to Update the current Magician 4.4 rather than uninstalling it first before installing Magician 4.5. Had no problems with RAPID 2.0 on Samsung Magician 4.4 being enabled. I hope this gets fixed sooner than later because I like the performance boost from RAPID mode. I noticed as part of the error, "Components of Rapid mode are missing." after doing the Last Known Good Configuration reboot.

Just had this issue myself after updating to 4.5 and running the Performance Restoration on my 840 EVO successfully. Re-enabled RAPID, rebooted, and no bueno.

I'm glad to see the solution of "Last known good" that I decided upon is one the suggested by Samsung.

I've Disabled RAPID and rebooted and will now send them my infos as requested.

The same thing just happened to me and I wanted to punch the screen. Gotta love when you update software and then render your PC unbootable.

Luckily hitting F8 at boot and using last known good configuration solved the problem, partially.
There is no way for me to re-enable rapid without getting the BSOD and crashing my system upon reboot. How fun!

Maybe they should test their software before release. I just lost 2 hours over this.

Unfortunately "Last good known configuration" option didn't help me 🙁
Trying to restore latest system image but I know all drive letters are messed up.
Not sure how I'm going to solve this.

P.S. Happy end. Image restore fixed all drive mappings automatically.

FR 11-dec-2014 Same issue (ASUS, 64-bit Win 7).
Using a restore point done prio to enable rapid mode
Sending logs and config. info as well to support@totalts.com

Had another computer with a GIGABYTE board and for some reason they made it so F8 doesn't bring up boot options, (googled it and lots of ppl having this no F8 thing on Gigabyte boards, wtf Gigabyte) so i couldn't do Last Known Good Configuration. So did a system restore using a system repair disk.

The F8 option shouldn't have anything to do with what MB you own. It's part of the OS, at least for Windows 7. I don't get a prompt for it... I just mash it a bunch of times after post, then get the menu to pop up.

I sent my data to that support address and they sent me this:

"Thank you for contacting us.

Your information you provided will be sent out to our engineers in Korea to
help fix the blue screen issue caused by enabling RAPID mode in Magician
4.5.

We will be in contact you once a fix has been released.

Just and FYI.

It seems it does with Gigabyte motherboards: https://www.google.com/search?q=gigabyte+f8+boot+options&gws_rd=ssl

I had the same problem. Tried redownloading and reinstalling 3 times. Each time it would not boot. Tried the Windows 7 fix but to no avail. Finally I found the advanced button which took me to the screen that loads a previous version before installing the new rapid mode driver was installed. Everything booted fine. I tried installing 4.5 once more but still got the BCOD and no boot. Went back to a previous Windows7 and everything was fine again. Samsung needs to check stuff before releasing it. Hope this helps.

I'm not nearly as tech savvy as most of the posters on here. The restore last known config mostly worked for me. First off, I wasn't hitting F8 fast enough, so that took a while to figure out. I finally got it when I would press the power button while rapidly hitting F8. Also, prior to that I was confused by MSI's prompt screen, so I kept thinking it was in there (under F11) - but of course I was wrong. After the last known config, I got my computer going, but I had no internet connection. The solution from there was to use System Restore to a point the day before and then reboot the modem and computer.

This issue seems to occur only at "Windows 7 x64 SP1". Is there anyone whose system is not 'Windows 7 x64 SP1' and having the same issue?
To restore from the BSOD, it would be better to create a restore point before trying to enable the RAPID.

Here is a reference site for creating the restore point.

FYI... I'm running a Dell XPS 8500, Samsung SSD 840 500gb mSATA. Recently upgraded from Win 8 to 8.1 x64. Magician 4.4 with RAPID enabled prior to the Win 8.1 upgrade- no problems; after Win 8.1 upgrade I get BSOD when ever I attempt to open Acronis True Image 2014 (regardless of whether I'm running Magician 4.3, 4.4, 4.5: I'm on 4.3 now). Also, regardless of which version of Magician I'm running, when RAPID is disabled I do NOT BSOD...

Awaiting news of a Samsung fix!

This issue may be related to the KB3004394 patch.
http://www.bit-tech.net/news/bits/2014/12/15/microsoft-pulls-kb3004394/1
Fix this issue and try again enabling the RAPID. (Be sure to create a restore point before trying!!!)

If you are using automatically, this patch may already have been patched.

For all those who have got BSOD after RAPID enable in Magician 4.5 upgrade, can you confirm if you have updated windows security patch for win 7.. "KB3004394" before moving to magician 4.5?

As some of you may already be aware, this appears to have been caused by the faulty KB004394 patch courtesy of Microsoft.

I'd installed this patch just prior to upgrading Magician from 4.4 to 4.5.

If you've updated since then, you may have included KB3024777 which removes the faulty KB.

You can confirm any of these details by the following steps:

Hold down the Windows key and hit R
copy-paste eventvwr.msc in the Run box and hit OK
in the left column, double-click Windows Logs, then click Setup
in the right column, locate and click "Find..."
copy-paste KB3004394 into the Find box and click Find Next

"Package KB3004394 was successfully changed to the Installed state." confirms installation of the faulty KB and will reveal the install date both above and below.

"Package KB3004394 was successfully changed to the Absent state." confirms the successful removal of the faulty KB.
