Alright so, I just upgraded my cpu and I got a problem, after changing the cpu my PC won't boot up, I don't have no post, no nothing, i tried putting my old cpu back and it worked fine, now my motherboard is ECS A780lm-m2 v1 and i got windows 10 on it and the bios upgrade is only compatible with win 7, and i think that might be the problem but im not sure

Old cpu: unclockd semprom 145 to athlon x2 4450e
New cpu: phenom x2 560 BE and i can unlock it into a phenom b60

Updating your BIOS doesn't have anything to do with your OS. You can download the latest BIOS for another OS if the page doesn't have an option for your OS it should work fine. A BIOS file from a Windows 10 page (if it existed) should work in you were running Windows XP. Before you upgrade your CPU the first thing you should is update your BIOS.

I don't see phenom x2 560 BE on the supported processors list for that motherboard but I see 565 and 740 (BE). If a BIOS update doesn't help then you may be out of luck.

I don't know if this is something you've done, but install that CPU as a dual core operating at standard clockspeed first. Don't try to overclock it or unlock extra cores until after it's functioning normally. Make sure you installed the CPU heatsink/fan correctly and that the fan is plugged in.

Yea well the thing is at first i forgot to plug the fan heatsink on and i let it run for about 30 seconds before i realised, but either way i just talked with someone who can sell me a compatible motherboard for my cpu

That is a solution for incompatibility I suppose although I personally would just sell the Phenom x2 and get something a bit more modern. Even a 10 year old Core i7 920 or FX processor like the FX-8300 would be 70% faster.

In regards to the original issue I would ask who you bought the Phenom from if it was tested or if they can test it and that you cannot get it to work. The CPU itself could just be dead.

Depends on the games. It will be an improvement on the Athlon x2 and older games/Esports titles would run at playable speeds. Anything like GTA5 or Battlefield would crush a Phenom x2.

When the time comes to upgrade completely let us know and we can put together a build for you.
