PC wont boot after upgrading ram

Hey. I Tried to upgrade the ram on a Dell XPS 8100 and got 2 long beeps (no ram detected) so i put the old ram back in and I still get 2 long beeps and no boot. I'm sure the ram is seated properly and I have reset the bios. Still no luck. Any ideas appreciated. Thanks.

I hope something didn't short on you. There's not much you can do, try single sticks at a time, mix n match, make sure everything is unplugged but keyboard, monitor. Try testing RAM on another PC, it probably works, in which case something did happen to the MOBO. Maybe something else got 'jostled', make sure all connections are secure.

Some motherboards need a specific slot to be filled,try the second and fourth slot from the cpu if not already occupied.
Tried a clear cmos too? After that set bios to optimal default values.

CLear your cmos set & apply to default, check all connections use like 1&3 or 2&4 slots if not occupied test ram on another PC
