Fans spin, hdd and cd drive make noise but the PC won't boot up. The monitor says no signal.
Also keyboard's lights won't blink when powering up like it's supposed to (might be relevant)
there's no beep as well.

I've had this problem before like 5 times. Somehow it started to work, never by itself,
I tried different things but I don't know what exactly made the problem go away.
Each time the problem started when I did something in the case - plugged a hdd, cd drive, changed a PSU..
If I wouldn't touch anything in the case the PC would boot up just fine every time.
However I was able to change the CPU fan without causing this.

I've looked up this on the Internet and it seems to be a common issue. In most cases it was solved by unplugging and pressing the power button for a min or so. I've tried that numerous times with no success.

It's definitely not the monitor.
It couldn't be the PSU as I had this problem before I replaced it.
Same thing with the GFX card.

I'd be forever grateful if you would help me fix this issue.
I'm very frustrated, I've been sitting by the PC the whole day - reseating GFX card, ram, plugging things in and out.
I desperately need an experts advice.

If it was the gfx you would get 2 short and a long beeb, as far as I remember. if no beeb I gues it is your cpu. I had a MB with bent cpu connectors, it did exactly what you describe, sometimes the connecters has a small connection and the computer booted and sometimes no connection fans started to run and nothing else happened.

The speaker cable is not plugged in, can't find it. I got this PC only a few weeks ago off eBay.
Bent CPU connectors? Hope that's not the case. Is there a way to test that?

forgot to mention the MB is asus
PSW DH deluxe

just cleared CMOS, didn't work 🙁
please help

I wanted to check if it's the RAM at fault. Plugged the RAM sticks into my other PC and it did boot up. However it only showed 4GB even though it's 8GB (4x2GB)

It must be the MB then?
I guess it's time to upgrade anyways. I'll go with Socket 1155 MB and pick up some 3rd gen i5 or i7.
I'm on a low budget max 250£ so I'll look for these parts on ebay.
