I just bought a Gigabyte RX 550 D5 2G as an upgrade to my old Asus R7 240 2GB. When I removed my R7 240 and installed the RX 550 and booted up my PC, only the fans of CPU and Graphics card were spinning but there was no display. I left it for about few minutes. The PC automatically shuts down and restarts after every 10 seconds and same thing happens. After about 5 automatic restarts, PC didn't automatically restarted 6th time and kept running like earlier but this time there was Red light on Power LED and the PC was continuously beeping. I turned off my PC and replaced the RX 550 with R7 240 and booted up my PC and it worked means the PC is working on R7 240 but not on RX 550. There can't be a Power Supply problem as I'm using a 475 Watts PSU. Please help me because it took me a very long time to finally being able to afford RX 550. By the way sorry for my bad English.

My Specs:
HP XW4600 Workstation PC
Core 2 Quad Q9400
8GB DDR2 Ram

Ok so with an updated BIOS and no power requirements, then there is not much else you can do. Its likely the age of your system holding it back from running a newer UEFI GPU. This is a common issue with older HP and Dell systems. Its BIOS related and without a better update from them you're stuck.
Does your new video card need to be supplied with power from the power supply?
Is there one or two 6-pin or 8-pin power connectors on the top of the card?
You may want to consult your manual, or the quick installation guide that came with the video card.

If so, please make sure you use the power cables that came with your power supply to supply power to your new video card, while the system is completely off.

This may prove difficult considering your computer is an HP Workstation, which means you may not have extra cables to connect your new video card. Did the old video card need to be supplied with power from the power supply? Are there any extra cables from the power supply that are currently not being used?

This may be a BIOS issue. Usually not a problem with AMD GPUs but HP and Dell are known for issues like this. Have you tried the HP forums to see if anyone has ever upgraded the GPU in this particular model?

Being that you had an R7 240 in there it should have worked, but clearly its not.

Only other issue could be is if the GPU needs a PCIe power plug and you have not plugged that in.

This was the first thing I did when the graphics card didn't work. The problem still exists.
