Ive got an old computer whick i use as a mediacenter.
Over the last 4 month it wont boot properly. Im pretty sure its the HDD or the PSU, but i have no educated idea? There is nothing of the usual HDD failure sounds.
I wondered if you could advice me before i purchasing new components.
Heres the problem:
Everything spins up and both the green and red light in front of the case lights up.
There is a sound which im guessing is from the drive, and the system stops booting. No video.
But this only happens once in a while. When it wont boot, i just remove the power supply cable a couple of minutes, and it boots and work normal.
It started some months after i replaced an old GPU and motherboard which was defect.
Ive opened the case. Removed everything, and installed ram, GPU and such one by one.Still the same problem, sometimes it boots, sometime it doesent. When inside the case, everything goes "on". The PSU lights up, every fan starts spinning. The MOBO gets power. The HDD spins up etc.
Ive run checkdisk, memory checks and such, and they all say the system is normal.
When it boots up, everything works as normal.
Any ideas?
