It won't boot until a key is pressed. From that part on, certain ctrl shortcuts (ctrl+s, etc.) won't work unless I restart the pc. All these things started after I replaced the cmos battery.

Solution
Can you enter bios? Delete is the usual key.

Try enter bios and configure boot priority to your hdd. Replacing cmos battery would have reset boot priority so try get there in the bios and have a look.

As in pressing a key turns the pc on? Or does it sit on a screen with a message to hit a key to continue?

Is the cmos battery positive + side facing up?

List specs
After I pressed the power button. It would only post if I pressed any key on the keyboard. The one facing up (the flat one), is the positive one.
