Hi everyone,

I have a rather strange problem and I am out of options.

Here is the system:
G4400 or 7700K
GA-Z270P-D3
Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x8GB
Zotac 1070 TI AMP Extreme
Corsair RM850x
Sandisk SSD Plus

Switched to intel from ryzen because I needed higher clock speeds... Regrets in my case...
So, I have a 7700K in hand, a litlle abused. Delided but heat sink was off when I got it.

GA-Z270P-D3: 1 pin broken, 1 seriously lost elasticity. G4400 working just fine. However when I put the 7700K in, nothing. Infinite loop with instantenous power loss and back on every 3 seconds.

I managed to boot only once with single RAM in 2nd slot, BOSD after desktop showed up.

I put the 7700K on a friend's MSI Z270-A Pro and only boots with RAM in 1 & 2 slots. (DIMM A not working). It runs p95 fine.

So obviously the 7700K is working but how? Haven't tried another 7700K yet on GA-Z270P-D3. I suspect those pins are for RAM channels?

The G4400 runs RAMs in any slot on GA-Z270P-D3.

Could it be the 7700K contacts are just dirty or doesn't sit well?

Many thanks.

I dug into this and found out that one of the pins is for DVI output and the other is VCC (of the 128 others). So, I would assume not related.

When I looked in better light, I recognized some residue on CPU contacts though. Ordered IPA and will clean those off tonight. Will post results.

I am totally content to be obliged to buy a new mobo but I hope it's not the CPU. I will also put in a friend's 7700K next week if cleaning doesn't work.
