Pc wont boot with new RAM

Hi

Hope some one can help me.

I recently built a new desktop pc with the below specs.

MB - MSI H110M Pro VH Plus
CPU - Intel Skylake G4400
GPU - Geforce GTS 450
RAM - 1 x 8GB Kingston DDR4 2133mhz.

PC is running smoothly.

I wanted to upgrade the Memory to 16GB as the MB and CPU can handle 32GB. My MB only has 2 dimm slots.

I added my newly purchased 8GB DDR4 2133Mhz module into the last remaining 2nd slot(Make was Hynix or something like that) and upon booting the pc all the fans spin and lights show but no signal to the monitor and also HDD led doesnt flash.

I then took out only the new module and tried and the pc booted up okay.

I took out working module and replaced only the new one in slot 1 and pc didnt boot.

I tried it in slot 2 same thing. Took the new module out put back the old one into slot 1 or 2 and it boots.

Faulty Module right.... thats what i thought so i sent it back and got a replacement this time the make is ADATA 8GB DDR4 2133mhz.

Tried again and its the same problem. I doubt 2 sticks can be faulty and i know both slots are okay cause the working one boots in either.

Iv tried cleaning ram and MB.

Iv tried updating the Bios to latest version.

Ive tried flashing the bios by removing battery off MB

Nothing is working...

Only thing i haven't tried is playing with overclocking settings in the bios as i am not 100% sure if i should.

So thats it i really hope someone can help...

Thanks for replying. I would then wonder why my original working ram works in both sockets. If the socket was faulty would it not mean that neither the original or new wouldnt work?

Im no expert thats for sure but i would assume as much.

Thanks again for a reply.

If that be the case what compatibility issue would there be?

Both sticks are same mhz and size.

Would it or could it be that they are at different timings and if so cant you change this in the bios?

Thanks but then why wouldnt it work on its own.

Sorry just to add to that. I completely understand what you are saying. My confusion lies in the fact that even with just the new module in by itself in either slot the pc wont boot.

Is it possible that the new module is not compatiable with the MB even though its 2133mhz and ddr4... in my 1st post i did mention that i had previously bought another stick that had the same issue. Thinking it was faulty returned it for another and same problem the brands were different though.

check the voltage info with cpu-z of the old ram and then check the ram voltage of the new cpu chip make sure there the same. also are both ram have the same number of chips on both sides of the ram stick?? mixing single sidded and two sidded ram is not a good mix.

Hi thank you for the response.

They both have 8 chips on one side and none on the other.

I cant test the new RAM cause it doesnt boot for me to do so.

Im trying to find someone with ddr4 MB to go test the module and see results. I can revert back after that.

Also the MB guys (MSI) said in theory the RAM stick is compatible with the MB and they recommend testing the module on another platform.

Gonna try that and revert back.

Thanks again to everyone
