I have a Gigabyte B75M D3H Mobo, Intel i7 processor, 2x 4G RAM, and a 600w PSU. I have been running a radeon 7770 on this setup for years. I upgraded to a radeon r9 290. Pc won't boot with it in.

I have it in the pciex16 slot. It requires an 8 and a 6 pin. I only had two six pins, so I used an 8pin splitter to both 6s that I have. The 6pin slot in the card is connected to a splitter to two of the four pronged PSU connectors. They look like horizontal holes, I bought a splitter I was assured would do the job. There were other connectors to the psu, but I only needed two and used the top two on the wire.

The gpu has green light indicating power above each plug. On startup the monitor says no signal, the mobo, case and gpu fans all run. I might need to update my bios? Can I do that with this card or should I go do that with my old card installed?
Any other ideas? I can provide any info you need. Help me help you help me. Thanks a lot.

Since I am using on of these (http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/NTAwWDUwMA==/z/BVUAAOxyRNJSlsBS/$_35.JPG?set_id=880000500F) to power the 6pin connection, while using another splitter to power the 8pin, maybe it's not receiving enough raw power?
