ok so my girlfriends computer is starting to struggle as she does a lot of rendering. so i monitered her RAM and CPU usage while she was working and noticed the ram was being maxed out. so i go ahead and get an 8GB kit to replace her old 4GB kit remove the old RAM and install the new (following all safety procedures) check everything is fully seated, power back on but get stuck on the boot splash screen.

so seeing this i remove the new RAM replace the old and everything works fine. so thinking maybe the RAM is dead on arrival or has some fault i throw it in my pc and boots no problem. so repeat installation in the first pc and again cant get past the boot splash. this is driving me crazy so hoping for some new ideas

thanks in advance for any replies

quick update, spec as followed

Asus P7P55D
i3 550
2x radeon HD5770
2x2GB DDR3 1333Mhz RAM (want to upgrade to 4x4GB)

What is the model of the new DRAM, I'm thinking a newer line of DRAM that uses High Density memory ICs which aren't compatible with the older 1156 mobo, might want to look at the original GSkill Ripjaws in a 4x4GB 1333 or their value line of NT sticks
