I was in the middle of resetting my HDD when my pc froze then turned off... which seems very very bad. I turned it back on and it boots past BIOS into a black screen where I can only see my mouse cursor if I'm clicking. I made a USB installation media so that I could do a system restore, but whenever I try that it takes forever on one of the steps (forever as in 8 hours overnight). It has done it with "initializing", "restoring files", and "finished" on different occasions, the finished one was actually frozen and I couldn't do anything. I tried the startup repair option but came upon this error "Log file: C:\Windows\System32\LogFiles\Srt\SrtTrail.txt
I executed chkdsk in command prompt and came upon the error "Failed to transfer logged messages to the event log with status 50." I can't fix the drive from cmdprompt because it is write protected. Please help!
