I have looked at all the threads and tried everything from buying a new psu, motherboard, and using a different gpu. My motherbaord shows that the slot is empty even after i switched slots with both cards
please help me
system specs
-mobo msi 270-a pro
-psu thermal take smart rgb 500w
-cpu i5 6600k
-8gb ddr4 xpg adata ram
-gpu gtx 1060 6b msi
-other gpu that didnt work/ Saphire dualx r9 280 3gb oc
Running on wondows 10-64 bit

no im connected through mobo graphics, because no signal would display when i connected through gpu

So you tried two PSUs, 2 motherboards , and two different GPUs and the issue remained.

What was the model of the other PSU?
The Thermaltake Smart RGB 500W might be able to power a GTX 1060 but I don't think it can handle the power draw from a R9 280.
That PSU is a 420W 35A (+12V) PSU, since that's the max power it can delivery constantly.
The 500W is a peak power rating, and we do not know for how long it can sustain that power delivery.

I wouldn't trust that PSU.

Try a reliable PSU with a sustainable 500-550W on the +12V rail.

yeas all of the above im not really wanting to use the r9 280 it was jus to see if my 1060 was broken, so i decided to buy a new psu and motherboard. the other psu is a 600w by corsair

that was the psu in their before but i wanted to try another one i now realize it was dumb to buy a 500w instead of something more powerful

yes i have, is their any other solutions i can try before i get another one, the closest pc store near me is 50 minutes away
