PC Won't Detect Samsung Monitor

Hello,

I have recently bought a Samsung S27A350H Monitor. There is a VGA and HDMI port on the back. The monitor works and is responsive with Xbox One and Chromecast. When I use HDMI from my R9 480 GPU to the Samsung monitor I get no signal nor is it seen by device manager or display settings. I just tried using the DVI port from my GPU with an HDMI adapter to run to the monitor. Again no signal nor is it detected. The cables all work fine and all ports on the GPU work with other monitors.

What I've tried:
1. Change cables and adapters
2. Installed monitor specific driver
3. Updated all R9 480 drivers

Specs:
AMD 8350 8 Core 4.0GHz
AMD R9 480 4GB GPU
16GB Hyper X Fury DDR3 1600

Is this a second monitor on your pc? If so, have you tried replacing the main monitor with this one? Ie- run this as the only monitor connected.
