Hi I come here because I have problem with my pc :
Yesterday i just buil up my first pc ever but i miss one part, I forget the thermal paste so i decided to start up the pc without it just to see if it boots up and the result is that there is no display (I put the monitor on the integrated gpu vga out) but the pc is booting normally (cooler are turning, the motherboard and graphic card are lighting, all seems to be fine) is this normal ?
Here is my config :
Case Zalman ZM-T2
Cpu cooler Zalman CNPS-90F
Processor AMD Athlon II x4 630
Motherboard Asus M5A78L-M LX V2
Gskill ripjaws 4GBx1 ddr3-1333
Graphic card Sapphire HD 5770
SSD Kingston V+200 60GB

So i will wait for it I already command one arctic silver ceramic 2
And you are talking about smoke, i dont think that smoke is appearing because i just let the pc a few seconds on starting not too much, it can burn on a few seconds 😵 ?

Cpu without a heatsink will fry within 15 seconds.

If you had a heatsink on the cpu without thermal grease, its alright, it wont fry but wont be very efficient. Thermal grease just gets rid of any air pockets between metal on metal. Too much grease will cause an insulator effect reducing metal on metal contact.

So readup on how much to apply 😀

I also forget to say, my psu is an antec earthwatts ea500d (white not green) and it has a 4 pin connector and a 8 pin (4+4 i think), which one should i plug in atx12v cpu power connector ?
Edit : the 8 pin is for eps not atx sorry
But this psu is weird for me i never heard of it and some chineses vendor says it is 80 plus

Antec is a good brand, not the best but is reputable.

use the 4 pin for the cpu power.

1x 4GB memory in A slot (closest to cpu) for single memory operation. Having 2x 4GB will enable dual channel and system will perform better if you decide to buy another later on. But make sure its CAS timings are exactly the same.

With no display, could mean many things. Did you connect the 6pin power connector to the gpu?

Also check you haven't bent any cpu pins either when installing it.

I will do this Tomorrow because its late in my country France cya
Edit : ok im back, i know what to do
I will apply a paper of aluminium that will do the job of thermal paste and see whats wrong with the no display problem, good idea ?

I finall found the problem, 1 pin of cpu is broken :pfff: ...
So i will buy athlon II x2 and try to be more careful this time cause i dont have the money to buy x4 but i saw that it only support ddr3 1066, will my gskill ddr3 1333 work with it ? thanx all

Edit: Please can you tell me if the difference between athlon II x2 250 and athlon II x4 630 is big ?

Yeah right. He says right in the description that he's using a cracked game on a cracked copy of Windows.

You can force override a lot of those settings in the drivers.

Also, if you watch the video, he's got it set to Normal in at least one point. Which was the overall setting, I think. Camerawork was awful; couldn't read much.

Finally, that's battlefield 3.
