So my computer was running fine last night, but this morning when I went to turn it on it wouldn't boot up. Everything sounds normal when I power on but it never posts. Displays blank no keyboard/mouse activity. I've tried just about everything I can that I have available. I get no beeping when I do things like remove ram, but I may not have an internal speaker. I am really hoping it's my power supply and not my motherboard. Would a bad power supply still give enough power to run the fans etc but not give enough for post? Or am I being optimistic and my motherboard got fried somehow?

Solution

that's a dedicated gpu....

take it out, and connect the monitor to the motherboard. see if you get a signal that way

I have an ASRock b85m-itx 3.0 usb.... It could be the mini as I have an ibp revolt (big mistake, but it's survived almost 2 years)

And as far as power supply goes it appears to be a FSP500-701UN. 500 watt. Just googling the name of this and seeing how shitty it is makes me think it could be the problem.

One of the first things I tried, had no effect. :??: at least I've found that my parts are relatively cheap if I want to replace them both. I would love for it to just be a PSu problem though.

Just got a new power supply, no change, still not posting. Unplugged gpu and plugged into motherboard and still nothing. Is it safe to assume it's my mobo that died? USB ports don't seem to come alive either so I don't think it's my gpu.

Next step is ordering a new case and motherboard.... should I just buy the same motherboard I had in there? Or get a new one? My pc ran great up until this point.
