I have recently built my first PC. I've had it for about two weeks and moved from upstairs. Upon powering on the system it ran normally for 3-5 seconds then turned off. Nothing happens at all unless i unplug the psu power cable and turn the psu switch off and on then plug it back in which gives me a small amount of case, cpu, and psu fan spin, otherwise if i remove the cpu and gpu power cables then the pc will turn on with all fans running at full

I can't really help you with your specific problem, since I'm not clairvoyant in any way, but I'd just like to point out that a CP with a disconnected CPU and GPU does not really constitute a PC (personal computer) inasmuch as it won't really do anything - much less compute.

I would suggest you check all the cables carefully. If that doesn't help, remove most components and see if just the CPU (with cooler installed and connected to motherboard) and one stick of RAM will power up. If so, add more components and see if you can identify a failing connection.

so i should l try powering on with just the cpu and ram installed no hdd?
