Question Pc wont power on

My pc powers on for about 2-3 seconds then just shuts off I dont know anything about pc really was brought for gaming for my son he seems to remember a possible update maybe a bios prior to this happening it's been to two computer repair shops one says cpu as machine will stay powered on when cpu is removed the other seems to think motherboard

tell us what you have and how old it is?
If your computer is a few years old you may be better off upgrading both devices. It really depends on what is in the box now and what can still be used?

Its 15 months old specs are
Alienware Aurora R7 i7 8700
8gb 1080 graphics card
16gb ddr4

Before you go too far is this still under warranty? That may be the easiest option.
Back to first post. Bios will not update itself did someone try to update the Bios? A bad flash can cause the problems.

PC is 14 month old warranty was 12 months so no good there the LED is that the green one on the back of the pc next to a test button as the machine only powers on for about 2 seconds thank for the reply by the way

If you mean the power button on the front it's an amber colour but it doesn't flash it stays solid light then turns off I'm not good with computers sorry

My son said he did an update I can only think it must of been a bios after that the machine would not power on for more than 2 seconds at max

If that's what happened then flashing it again with the proper bios file may fix.

Ok I'll try that how exactly do I do it if the pc wont stay powered on for more than 2 seconds

Also just been told it could be my operating system dont know if that would cause it
