My PC has decided to stop recognising my Ethernet cable. I've used it for almost a year now.

When I plug the cable into my laptop it works. I've tried resetting my computer, the router. And reinstalling drivers.

All it says is that there is no Ethernet cable connected to you're computer.

Solution
I know the cable works with your laptop but try an different cable in the PC, also try a wifi dongle in PC see if that lets you connect if it does you can let Windows trouble shoot the Ethernet port through device manager.

It turns out that (after fiddling with the cable for a while) that it works if it is in at the right angle. But tomorrow I'll get a network card and a new cable to prevent further problems. Thanks

Did you change anything in your network , like new modem?
If it's not trouble try with another cable. If it is trouble to replace it try connecting the pc with the laptop and see if that works, you may have to set static ip adresses for that. I had a similar problem with a cable of mine and solved when i changed one end from type A(greenwhite/green) to type B (orangewhite/white) and made the cable crossover from straight through.
