PC won't start after moving to a new flat

Hi guys,

I know there is a lot of similar topics in the forum, but I wanted to share my particular case and also what I've tried so far to resolve my issue.

We moved in a new flat a week ago and one of the first things I've done was to unpack and set up my PC. But it wouldn't start for some reason. I had my PC packed in a box with other things, but all well-packed (bubble wraps, etc.; also considering I used to work in a warehouse I think I know how to pack). The PC was working until the very minute I had it packed in the box. In the new flat, I took all the things out, connected them and it just won't start.

After some reading in forums and improvising, what I've tried is:
- Check cables inside and reconnect them
- Remove cooler from CPU, clean them both with CPU and repaste
- Moved all the components to a new case, since I had issues before with my old one (so this also didn't work)
- Cleaned everything, including opened the PSU and cleaned it as well
- Wanted to try if PSU is working on it's own with the paper clip trick, but I have too many black cables coming out of the 24-molex or whatever it is called, and wasn't sure when to put the clip, so didn't try ii

Also it is maybe worth mentioning that the Mobo light is ON when I connect the PC to electricity.

Basically a completely working PC won't start after we moved to a new place. I was really hoping reconnecting cables was the issue, but I've tried so many other things so far, and it won't start... I am really surprised that this is actually happening.

Please, let me know some other other options I might just try.

PS: If I remember any piece of info I might have forgotten, I will edit my thread

Quick update:
-Swapped the cables for Reset and Power On (their places on the Motherboard)
-Did a BIOS reset

No idea which one of those worked, but it did. PC seems to be working now. Just need to adjust my previous OC settings, since I did a BIOS reset.

If you have a heavy GPU or HSF, there is the possibility of motherboard damage from heavy components stressing the board. Some system builders ship heavy components packed separately to avoid that problem or with some sort of internal supports to mitigate stress.

I am going to refer you to our general troubleshooting thread. Go here:

Work through the list. WORK! Not just read!
If you still have issues, come back here with the results of working EACH step in the list. Since we can neither see nor touch your PC, the results of each step give us data to eliminate possible errors, and give you a reasoned diagnosis. Help us to help you!

Do you think the Mobo will still light, if it is broken? Or it could be just some sort of damage I suppose?

Thank you for forwarding me the thread! Will give it a thorough look tomorrow and start working on what I have missed doing.

The lights that turns on on motherboards when the PSU is powered up but the PC itself is in standby/off only tells you that 5VSB is present. You could saw the motherboard in half and that LED may still light up.

Glad you got it up and running!

Good for you. Since both the power and reset switches are momentary contact and it is "now working", my bet would be on the swapped switches - I doubt you tried pressing the reset switch to turn your PC on while troubleshooting.
