I just finished building my first pc at about 4 am in the morning, only to have the rather dissapointing /nothing/ happen when I pressed the power button on. Darn.

My PSU is working as well as my motherboard, and I know this from the LEDs on the mobo- the power one is always on, and toggling the TPU or EPU on/off also shows their LEDs to be on.

The Mobo also has LEDs supposedly to show problems with the CPU and RAM, but neither are on- though I don't know if that actually means anything before the PC has really been /turned/ on.

When I press the power button, nothing happens. I've tried unplugging the power SW from the ASUS Q-connector and plugging it in directly into the board, but still no luck. I've tightened down all the RAM, the Graphics card, even tried swapping out the RAM cards one at a time to see if that was the problem. At this point, I'm unsure what to think, but I'm leaning towards a DOA CPU, but maybe it's just a faulty case power switch. The switch has power LEDs, but unlike the motherboard, they have not yet turned on, even when I [;plugged them in alone.

Are there any other tests I should do before I give it up? Possibly something with the graphics card? It has shown no signs of life, though (yet again) I don't expect it to before the PC is actually turned on.

Thanks in advance!

Hello... you just need a momentary touch/connection to the Power ON Pins, with a small tipped screw driver, to get the power/Boot up to start working... try that.
Do you have the Power Supply Switch in ON position?
Do you have the power connector to the MB for your CPU?
Do you have the CPU fan connected to the MB CPU fan connector?
LED's have Polarity to them... sometimes you have to reverse the LED pin connections for them to work properly.

I will try that!

The PSU is on, the MB has the 4 x 2 PSU connector plugged in, the CPU fan is plugged in at the CPU_FAN connector

Hi there, i know this thread is really old but i hope i can help someone as i was having the same problem. There should be a little red button on your motherboard with CLR_CMOS next to it. Press that and your computer should kick start itself back up. I tried disconnecting everything spent ages taking it all apart etc etc and all that was a needed was the CLR_CMOS button to be pressed! How frustrating! My graphics card also was not producing a picture i'm not sure if this was linked to my problem or not but i swapped the display port cable for a DVI one and i had my PC running and my picture back!

PLEASE NOTE PRESSING THE CLR_CMOS BUTTON WILL RESET YOUR BIOS SETTINGS*************
