Hello,
I'm having trouble with a PC that was built about 5 or 6 years ago. I did not build it myself, however, a friend helped me customize it online. It was built by and purchased from iBuyPower. I didn't have any trouble with it until about a year ago when I began to get blue screens. The blue screen would only occur when I was playing more demanding games such as Far Cry 3 or XCOM on high settings. When I lowered the settings and attempted to play the games again, the same blue screen would appear telling me there may be something wrong with my hard drive.
Upon the last blue screen, the PC shut off and has not been able to turn on since. When it shut down, the power button (NOT the PSU switch) remained lit up and flashing. When I pressed the flashing power button, it ceased the flashing and has not done so since.
I've noticed that the motherboard power button is still lit up green and only turns off when I flip the power supply switch. This would lead me to believe that perhaps my PSU and motherboard are working properly and that there is something else causing the problem. However, my experience with computers is far more limited than it should be so I am rather lost at this point. I've been meaning to replace the parts on this PC as time goes on simply to keep up with the advancing tech, so I am obviously not opposed to purchasing new components. That being said, I would like to ensure I'm getting the correct parts before I make such purchases.
The issue could very well be in the PSU and perhaps even a few other things. As I mentioned, I really don't know so any information would be helpful. I am prepared to attempt the "paperclip trick" if need be, but that will require me to do some dismantling of the PC. I don't mind doing so, I just wanted to post before I jumped into things.
Power Supply: Casegears ECO-Element 650W
Graphics Card: Sparkle GTS 250 1024 MB 3-Way Pci-Express Graphic Card SXS2501024D3LNM
Motherboard: MSI NF750-G55
Thanks for checking in,
Max
