[SOLVED] PC won't turn on with 8-pin cpu power plugged in, but it will turn on with 4-pin plugged in ?

I know that 4 pin cpu power isn't enough to run games and the epic games launcher crashes when I launch it. Anyone got any ideas whats happening?

MB: Gigabyte GA-Z87X-OC
CPU: i7-4770
RAM: 32GB Dual-Channel DDR3@ 799MHz
GPU: AMD Radeon 7970M R9 200

To be more precise, the 4pin only will power your system fine, but am wondering why it doesn't work as 8pin EPS. That psu is great and must come with a second 8pin EPS, did you try that cable as well?

You have many pcie x16 slots and it can take much power to run them all.
That is why your motherboard has a place for 4 and 8 pin atx power.
You likely do not need all the power but plug them both in anyway.
Your psu has two 8 pin eps 12v connectors.
Use them. One of them will be plugged only half in to the 4 pin motherboard connector.
Be careful that the other end of the modular cable is plugged into the eps12v port on the motherboard.

Strange thing is that the pc imo should be fine with just a four pin since the cpu isn't unlocked. Maybe it's just getting old and the motherboard is starting to fail.
