PC woon't start after installing the Hyper 212 Evo

Hi maybe someone can help me with a problem I have. Just yesterday I purchased a 212 Evo and installed it on my pc. The thing is that now it won't boot and it keeps turning on and off. The motherboard also gives me a Dr. debug code 55. However this all goes away when I install the stock HSF.

I checked the cpu socket for any bent pins and found none, I already tested all the ram modules and it will boot but only if I replace the Evo with the stock hsf that came with the 3570k. I however haven't breadboarded(sp?) to test any of the components. I feel as though there is no enough space for the backplate.

One things I did notice is that the backplate on the Evo touches the back of my case. Just the lower part though. Also the inside of the backplate touches the motherboard.

is the evo touching the ram modules?

Not all there is about an inch or so of space in between, I switch the ram stick to a2 b2.

connected the fan header? replaced thermal paste? is the evo snug in place?

Yes I connected the fan header, I replaced thermal paste, and yes it's snug in place. I did changed from AS5 to Cooler Master High Performace paste though.

backplate must be causing issues OR the actual weight of the radiator. Check to see of the motherboard stand-offs are connected properly. If there is a missplaced stand-off then it might short the motherboard under the weight of the new cooler. Also remove the graphics card before you install the evo and reinstall it after. Make sure the motherboard scews haven't loosen(especially from the top). No part of the cooler including backplate should touch the case, to prevent this you can use plastic bands for electronics.

Yes about the standoffs since I installed the evo, only some of the standoffs sit correctly in place. I can't seem to be able to sit the motherboard properly with the backplate in place.

With your case, mobo and the EVO all should fit fine.....try the sticks in 1-3 - unclip the fan from the fins of the cooler, install the DRAM and simply set the fan just above the DRAM

Okay so after breadboarding my components to make sure nothing was shorting out, I found out that b1 and b2 seem to be dead. Otherwise everything seems to be working fine. Now when I first purchased the motherboard about a year or so ago, it came with a bent pin that made b1 b2 not work. Now I fixed the pin and the ram worked fine ever since.

So I'm wondering if the added pressure of the new cooler is doing something to it, since it seems to work just fine when I switch the Evo for the stock HSF.

Is there any way to fix those two slots or will I have to change motherboards?

Update: I checked the CPU socket with a magnifying glass and there are no bent pins of any sort. So I'm at a loss as to what could be causing this problem.

Try loosening the EVO, then simply snug it back down, might have too tight in a corner or side that throws the CPU out of level and not getting full contact with all pins

Okay guys thank you for all your I really appreciate it a lot. The problem was that I had the back plate upside down. So instead of all the nice little screws from the cpu socket fitting right in the holes of the back plate, one of them was touching bare metal and shorting the mobo. So I lined the three holes of the back plate with the three screw looking things in the back of the mother board and now everything works fine.
