PC works slow

Hello,
So recently I just bought asus X555UB laptop,
intel i7 6500U, 8GB RAM, geforce 940M.
I installed windows 10, and I think my pc could work much better. It's a bit laggy and fps is droping when I am gaming. Any suggestions what can be wrong with it ? Do you know any good tests where I can check if everything working fine ?

pick a game and google 940m+game benchmark. thatll show if in the right ballpark.

that is some way from a gaming setup however, so don't expect toooo much
