PC100 RAM on PC133 FSB

I heard that some motherboards allow the RAM frequency and the chip front side bus frequency to be set independently. Does that mean a Pentium III chip rated for a 133 MHz FSB will run at 133 MHz FSB even while the RAM runs at 100 MHz?

I would like to know if I can keep the PC100 RAM I have or if I need to throw it out for PC133 RAM. I'd appreciate any information on this issue.

Thanks in advance.

If your board supports this, you should be able to run it at a 4:3 FSB:memory ratio. If you're lucky, maybe your RAM will overclock to 133mhz and you won't have to do that :)

Is there a reason to run the cpu fsb higher than the mem?
If so, what is the typical fsb limits for athlons?
