I'm looking at a D-Link wireless card on newegg thats on sale for $20. Pretty good deal it seems but I'm not sure if it will work for me. The interface is PCI2.2, will that work in a regular PCI or PCI-X slot? I don't think I've heard of this interface before.

The answers you've already received are probably correct. However, to go a tad further, it really comes down to what is implemented by the motherboard you're going to plug the card into.

The important factor is how the card and the motherboard are "keyed". A card can be keyed so it will only plug into a PCI v2.2 slot, or so it will only plug into a PCI v2.3 slot, or so that it will work in either PCI v2.2 or v2.3 slots. These cards are also referred to as "universal" cards and are supposed to work in either a PCI v2.2 slot or a v2.3 slot.

Most motherboards produced have PCI v2.2 slots so you should be OK. However, if you have a motherboard which supports PCI v2.3 then you will not be able to plug a v2.2 only card into its slots.

Bottom line, the card should work if you are able to plug it into the PCI slots on the motherboard.
