Question pci bifurcation, how to know how many ssds can your mainboard handle?

I've recently bought an U.2 adapter with 4 ports and managed to get 2 ssd working at the same time through the device on the second pci port of an X570-E Asus rog stris gaming mainboard.

I would like to know if that's the limit and how can I now for sure? I don't want to waste my money trying to add another ssd just to discover it can't handle more than 2 on that port.

I think it's important to mention that the CPU is a Ryzen 7 5700-G.

Just in case anyone knows how to find information or have experience with that problem I'll be grateful for guidance.

Ryzen 5700G has 20 lanes of PCIe 3.0 connectivity (16 for graphics, four for the chipset, and four for storage)
X570 chipset has further tottal of 16 PC Ie gen4.0 lines shared with PCIe and M.2 slots.
Check your MB manual to see which and how they are shared.
