PCI card compatibility with PCI-X slot

Hello,
I have a problem with my PCI card (8SMCC PCI). It is a stepper motor controller http://www.chem.ucla.edu/~craigim/pdfmanuals/manuals/8SMCC_manual.pdf

In my computer with this motherboard Tyan Tempest i5000px s5380

when the card is inserted into one of the PCI-X slots, the computer does not start, when PCI card is taken out, computer starts normally. Do you have any idea what coul be the problem? Could the PCI card not be compatible with PCI-X slot? I will really appreciate any help.

Your stepper motor controller card requires 5 V from the slot, but your motherboard's can only supply 3.3 V from the slot.

Thank you for your answear. So is there anything that I could do?

Can you find a version of the controller that takes 3.3 V? Either that or find a computer with a 5 V PCI-X slot. The controller board, according to the specs, is keyed to be universal, while the PCI-X slot is keyed for 3.3 V, according to the motherboard's specs.

That are really bad news, I would really need this card to work. Do you know if there are any kind of adapters or something like this?
