Question Pci card usb + hdd drive problem

I buy this card

And installed yasterday

I connected power sata + pci power
So this card have two source for power sata cable and pci


My question
I have 8 Portable External Hard Drive 4tb portable (see link pls)

How many can connect to this card i mean for saftey 4 or can connect 7 in same time?

I think since you've alredy got the neccesry hardware, you should try it out by connec one and one disk to it.
If the card at some point isn't able to deliver enough power for all the disks, you must assume simoultaneously disconnection of all disks. That also means that you run into a slight risk of getting corrupted file system on some of the disks.

The biggest problem for such a solution is when all the drives powers up at the same time. That is when power consumption is at the highest peak.

Therefore, you should take a look into the manual of the card and see if there is some upper limit of the total power consumption of all connected devices at once.
Then you should look at each drives maximum power consumption - when spinning up - add the number up for all your disks and compare to the usb card maximum power capability. Then you'll know if it poses a problem or not.
