Can anyone here recommend a good PCI video card? The mboard i'm looking at doesn't support AGP but it comes with ATi Rage 8mb--which so far I have not heard good things about. The main uses will be gaming and probably some video editing.

Don't get a mobo without an AGP port. The PCI video card selection is much more limited and PCI cards are also more expensive for the same type of card.

In $cdn
PowerColor ATI Radeon 9000 64Mb [TV Out] PCI $134.16
ATI Radeon 9000 64Mb [TV Out] $80.08
ATI Radeon 9000Pro 64Mb [Tyan Tachyon 9000Pro] $87.36
Buy a better AGP motherboard with the money you save!

Judging from the specs of the integrated card, this must be a really low-cost motherboard. That also sounds like its a very old board too. so, assuming that you are a low budget buyer I would recommend an N-Force chipset Motherboard and an Athlong XP 1500+ - 2600+. No, the Graphics chipset onboard isn't the best in the world, but I bet you could probably get by with it on lower settings on newer games for sure. The real advantage to the N-Force2 is that if you ever want to upgrade your Video card an AGP slot exists to make this possible. A deal like that can't be beat. Or, if you can afford a GeForce 4 Ti 4200 64 meg, I would go with that for AGP. Neither gamers nore Video editing professionals can do without the bandwithth of a newer AGP card. It really is an essential.

My OS features preemptive multitasking, a fully interactive command line, & support for 640K of RAM!

My cousin got totally screwed, he bought a POS HP PC with integrated graphics and no AGP slot. Now the best card he can get is a G4 MX440. :(
