PCI-E 1x Card...

Hello,
Has anyone ever successfully placed a PCI-E 1x Card in a PCI-E 16x slot and have it work correctly? I ask because my only PCI-E 1x slot is covered by my video card. Since I cannot move this card due to my crossfire configuration, the only slot open and free is a PCI-E 16x slot. Thanks!!
