I'm considering an upgrade from 2 asus 8600gts in sli to 2 9600GT in sli. My motherboard is PCI-E 1.0 and the 9600GT is 2.0, how would that effect the cards?

it shouldnt effect it at all pci-e x 16 v1 should have enough bandwith and its backwards compatible so that shouldnt be a problem.

but i dont see the reason why though? 2 8600gts should b pretty much the same
as 2 9600 gt in performance atleast.

Edit: hmm i have to take that back sry i never knew the 8600gts was that crippled... the name implies its a decent mid range card oh well.
9600gt is a nice card but imo u should only sli/crossfire with ''high''end cards els you are better of with a faster single gpu solution

ps sry for the new post couldnt edit my last one..

seriously, thats not an upgrade. get a single card solution. dual card if you have to have more power than you can get from a single card solution. 2 of either of those cards doesnt even equal a 4870 or a 260. then theres issues like microstutter. or games not supporting sli.

and your 1.0 is fine. unless you want a gtx 295, or a 4870x2, then the extra bandwidth helps.
