PCI-E 2.0 vs 3.0

I'm planning to get a GTX 950,

is this mobo ok? I've read there's a neglible difference between PCI E 2.0 and 3.0, is this true?

There's no big difference you'll be fine.

plenty of "on paper" differences there... real world - depends on your hardware

PCIe 3.0 definitely has more bandwidth potential, but there aren't any video cards out now that even saturate the PCIe 2.0 bandwidth.

You'll be fine.

Where have you seen anything documented by which something 1070+ gets bottlenecked by PCIe 2.0? Just curious?

Exactly, there is no difference with any card, except about 1-2%, or about equivalent to a margin of error, as per every benchmark done to answer this question.

Irregardless the op's board is PCIexpress 3 x 16 anyway which makes the whole question kind of pointless.

That limit is in the number of lanes though and has nothing to do with 2.0 vs 3.0

And also that limit has been found to be minimal to performance impact as well.

^ absolutely true - in theory though the new cards
Rx 480,gtx 1070/1080 have such a high combined memory/core bandwidth that they could 'theoretically' be limited on a 2x8 slot.
In real life likely not , + anything that's running on that slot will be heavily CPU limited anyway

Edit - RX480 in your sig now , Is it installed & running ??

Your system hasn't imploded due to the pci express power draw yet ?? ;-)
