Hi all,

I was hoping someone could give me a solid answer on this question. I currently have my original gen 1 i7 950 with my 1366 motherboard and I have plans to overclock this system with liquid cooling once I've saved up for it.

Back to the question, I'd like to purchase a Nvidia 690 GTX or 680 GTX and I'd like to know if there are any disadvantages or issues of purchasing one of these two cards and installing it within my current motherboard. Obviously the graphics card is a PCI-E 3.0 device and that my motherboard only has PCI-E 2.0 slots. What difference will this make to my system?

Thanks and looking forward to a response soon!

what about the reverse of this option
PCI 3.0 motherboard with 2.0 GPU

I am trying to select the best Nvidia GPU for a PCI 3.0 that is low power and is OK with Photoshop.
or is it OK to select a 2.0 GPU and use it with the ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 ATX LGA1155 Motherboard?
