i just bought a 4870 x2 and its not in yet (im on integrated) becuase im woried im acedently ocing my pci e. i have my cpu freq. at 248 and since it oced my RAM i thought it might do the same to the gpu, so i dont want to put it in and fry it. so, im useing and ECS GF8200A and there is no PCI overclocking ability to it, i think there is a setting called pci e spread spectrum, but that probly means nothing for overclocking, is there a chance this is true and the pci is overclocked. thanks, google failed me so thats why im asking.

Not really, that review covers too boards, the other board (the Abit one with the phenix award bios) can ajust the PCI but my board cant, im sure of it, i am just wondering if my board just locks the pci settings no matter what or if it overclocks with my cpu.

Sorry, my bad. I was in fact looking at the other boards info :pt1cable:

So is the pcie freqency value displayed anywhere in the bios, even if you cannot change it? Also seen someone suggesting ntune to look it up.

there is no setting for the pci slots reguading overclocking.. and nothing shows how fast its running, i do remember seing that my integrated grapphycs runs at 500mhz and when did oc the cpu to 3ghz the gpu was still at 500mhz so i think the bios locks that crap, everything worked fine, my pci cards (USB, IEEE, and wireless card) i think ill be fine, but is there anyone with a direct answer??

ntune dosent support the chipset on my board. i think its 8200a. my board is the ECS GF8200a. ill try ntune again, and i thought maby upping the fsb it would up the INTEGRATED GPU but it didnt, so mabey the bios is locking that alnog with the pci. but i want some facts and ive bean resurchin the hell outa it and cant find anything

just put the card in dude. there is no reason for the pcie to be overclocked. especially if there are no settings to adjust it. it will be fine. put that x2 in and enjoy.

well your not going to get the full potential of that card out of that athlon x2 anyways...i had an x2 3800+ overclocked to 2.93 with an 8800gt...when i upgraded to the e8500 i have now i got about a 60-85% increase in fps. i would make that your next upgrade route. as much as i dont like intel, these cpu's are insane.
