Couple things actually!

I need to add USB 3.0 to a MS-7514 Neo 3 M/B
This un` here!

And the only slot(s) I can get to are the 4 PCI (white).
I cannot find a USB 3.0 "PCI" card, only PCIe.

Is there an adapter I can use somehow making the PCIe slot "reachable" and mount the USB 3.0 card in a lower case slot?

The fans on the GPU leave maybe a half inch "head room" to the PCIe slot needed.
Like a male / female PCIe ribbon..
Is there such an animal?

A USB 3.0 PCI card would be best..
Hmm, can PCI bus do PCI usb 3.0 ?

Thanks!

Does that need SATA power cord attached? I have none available or, is that to add a drive?
Also, cannot find anything usb 3.0 "PCI" on ebay. That is where I have the available funds.
What say you? 😛

From the link, assuming your are referring to the SATA power connection:

The card features an optional SATA power connection, which enables each port to supply up to 900mA of power to USB 3.0 bus-powered devices.

You could connect to your PSU with a simple molex to SATA power adapter, if needed.

How many USB 3.0 devices do you need to connect to this old rig? Have you considered using a USB hub for the additional ports, if needed?

All SATA power cords are used. That PC is full up with drives and 4 external drives.
It is my old pc in the basement acting as a Plex server.

The two big ext drives are USB 3.0 on USB 2.0.
We have three 4k tvs and all three sucking on a 4k film, well.. you see the bottle neck.

😛

meh

For the time being, it works well enough. My Personal PC is all that counts when "guts" are considered.

I did just dig thru my collection of parts and found a PCI-E 4port USB 3.0 card though! LOL
Thought I remembered seeing one... So, scratch that off the list!

Now, I just wonder if the ribbon adapter thing is capable of making the tight fit between the PCI slots.
There is an off-center CASE slot that allows this PCI-E to fit between the PCI slots but, it is a tight turn for the cable. This card almost sits flush to the M/B.
HELL, I'll leave the thing laying outside the case if mounting is a problem.
Its in a cool dark corner in the basement with side off anyway.

Or point of interest, nas server capable of multi stream 4k content. Im not knowledgeable in this area based on what nas models required for comfortable streaming or the cost involved in a decent unit.

Just an idea for some searching

I was messing around with Ubuntu and FreeNAS in VM Ware as an O/S for the Plex server but, I encrypt all my drives and that adds to the learning curve.

I ran a BSD Apache server for years and the problem with that is.. It never needed reinstalled and ran forever. I forgot all the time it took to set it up.

Actually though..

That little 2.3ghz can do 6 1080p streams just fine. Trick is making sure all that are accessing it are using the Plex Media Player (Not Chrome MSIE etc) so they get direct stream.
The 4K TVs have built in Roku w/CPU and are on the gigabit LAN so they direct stream always.

My Dingbat Sister in Florida STILL cannot grasp the concept of transcoding slowing everything down.
I bought the reg'd version of Plex just so I could set her access to ONE STREAM per her account. She'd have sh!t playing on her tv, phone, ipad, at the same time all the time.
