PCI-E Slot Too Small

I just bought a PCI-E 1x Extender, but it doesn't fit into my slot. Is it not a PCI-E 1x slot then? If so, what is it and can I get an adapter for it?

That does look like a PCIe 1x slot. So I don't know what adapter you got.

The marking next to the slot say. USB 3
So i guess that is what it is
What is the exact motherboard you have
The user guide (often on the driver cd ) will show what the slots on the motherboard are for

It looks like a PCIe 1x slot. I question your extender. Take a pic or send a link to the extender you bought.
