PCI-E slots and x16, x8

Hi' i wonder if anyone knows the difference between x16 slots and2.0 & 3.0 pcie gen3, let me explain i have two gtx 670's in sli i have 1 in x16 slot and other in x8 but it is pcie gen3 3.0, is there motherboards outhere which are faster and what pcie specs are they

keep in mind that PCIe gen3 x8 gives you same speed as PCIe gen2 x16.
your CPU model ?
your CPU probly have 16 PCIe gen3 lanes (x16), so if you need more then that, you need PLX on your motherboard.

no gpu is going to saturate the performance of 2.0x16 or 3.0 x 8 so you good to go with this mobo only no need to change. Please correct me if i am wrong
