PCI-EX and HL2 @ IDF! WOW SEXY!

I thought that title might Grab ya'!

X-BitLabs has <A HREF="http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/editorial/display/idf-fall2003-2_4.html" target="_new">some photos of the new ATI PCI-EX card and the Intel rig it sits in</A>, that is on display at IDF.

No news as to which chip/card it is (RV380/R423/ <i><b>or</i></b> RV350/360 on a PCI-EX board?) I think it's most definitely a 0.13 core and therefore NOT an R9800PXTSEFMBMX+MAXX.

Also note on the INTEL Rig. Big Fans! AND PCI-X slots (4 that are visible to me [PCI-EX is suposed to be much smaller isn't it {like the size of a box of mathces}, anywhoo looks like the PCI-X slot on my ASUS]). So PCI-EX, AND PCI-X. NiIicee!

There is also a <A HREF="http://www.hardocp.com/image.html?image=MTA2MzgxMzQ2NFBNaElkbDNmWVNfMV8xX2wuanBn" target="_new">PIC of the ATI card</A> at [H]. Not as clear/bright though, but a beter 'above' shot angle IMO.

While AGP 8X doesn't show much gain comparing to 4X, what's the advantage of this new Interface for performance boost.
Does it just reduce price of motherboards by shrinking them in size or REALLY improve our visual experience.

Like DaveP mentioned, the current cores don't overwhelm 8X AGP, but future cores will. One of the advanatges of PCI-EX would be allowing the cards to use system memory more freely (commonly people have 1GB of system memory [leaving a fair amount to spare]), and it would allow alot of felxibility in setups (my main focus).

That's exactly why I think that those were PCI-X slots, they look exactly like the one's on my ASUS board. And all the pictures I've seen of the PCI-EX slots they are considerably small. So it looks like that rig is both PCI-EX and PCI-X.
