PCI Express 3.0 x16 GPU Help?

I am learning how to build a computer, so I am new to this. I am looking at an NVIDIA GPU that says its slot type is PCI Express 3.0 x16. The motherboard that I am looking at buying says it the motherboard's PCI express standard is PCI Express 2.0. Do I need a motherboard that has PCI Express 3.0 as the standard?

No, it's backwards compatible both ways and there's like 1% performance advantage from having a PCI-e 3.0 board over PCI-e 2.0.
