Hi guys I hope you can help.

I have a m4a785td-v evo motherboard and just bought a xfx r7 260x graphics card. The problem I have now is I cannot get power to the card, have done some research and now think the issue is I need a pci express power cable. What cable do I need? And where would I put it into my motherboard for power?, the card needs a 6 pin.

Thanks
H
PS running windows 8.1 pro.

There are different types of 4-pin connectors.
The square one is for your motherboard.
The rectangular ones with 4 big pins were used for old IDE hard drives and CDROMs, but are now used mostly for fans and adapters like the one I linked. Follow the link I gave to see what these connectors look like.
The 6-pin power connector comes from your power supply, not the motherboard.
Most supplies have at least one of these connectors.
If not, your card may have come with a 2x 4-pin molex to PCI-E power adapter or you can buy these very cheap:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812423173&cm_re=molex_to_pci-e-_-12-423-173-_-Product

Note that if your power supply does not have one of these connectors, it may not be suitable for a high powered graphics card.
You should have a supply rated 30A on the +12V rail, which is ok for any good quality 400W supply but some cheap supplies may have a very low +12V rating.

The card has a slot which would take a 6 pin. From the power supply I have 1 spare 4 pin and one slotted into the motherboard, my question is If I get a 6 pin PCIe would I need an adaptor to go to the 4 pin from my PSU?

Thanks..
