Looking for some opinons here. Here's the Challenge.
Gateway 300S P4 2.0 Celeron 512MB DDR Ram
PCI slots only. No AGP

I want to upgrade from the integrated graphics but I only have PCI slots. I would like to do some light gaming and graphics work but obviously it will be nothing too heavy on a base Gateway. I see a lot of FX5200's with 128 or 256MB contrasting the ATI's 9200 SE 128MB boards.

Looking at the stats I am leaning twards the 9200 but I want to hear other opinons. Thanks for all your feedback.

That's probably your best bet.

Hmmm, I have some experience with PCI cards as my previous computer (now my daughter's) had no AGP slot...I was fairly happy with my FX5200 128MB PCI card, scored somewhere around 9000 on Aquamark3. Mine was the one with slow memory, 150MHzDDR...I was able to overclock it stable to 300 core and 330 memory. If you look around you can find 5200's with faster memory clocked at 500MHz.

I don't recall seeing any 4200's in a PCI card, but I could be wrong.

Take a look at THIS REVIEW for some good PCI card info...it shows an FX5600 with clock speeds of 325/550 probably the best you can expect from a PCI card.

Oh, and definitely don't bother spending the money for a 256MB PCI card. In fact, I doubt a PCI card can make use of 128MB video memory.

Spitoon, thanks for the link, it was great.
I think I will go with the ATI brand, I think the 9100 by VisionTek looks like what I am looking for.

I apreciate all the help and advice.
