PCI Lane Limitation Question...

I currently have a Gigabyte Sniper M5 Mobo with a 4770k. I have 2 Sli GTX 780 cards installed. Now I understand the cpu has 16 lanes for pci bandwidth. Would a PCI SSD run off the mobo's chipset if I were to install it in the pci 2.0 x4 lane? Or would that cause one of my cards to drop to x4 speeds?

You'll be fine. According to page 8 of your motherboard's manual off the Gigabyte site, all x1 and x4 slots run off the PCH, so you won't have any PCI-E lane contention with your GPUs if you install anything into those slots.
