I would like to upgrade GTX 1060 graphics Card or alternatively the GTX 1050 Graphics Card.

I can't figure out if the PCI slot on my MSI H55 - G43 motherboard is compatible with either of these graphics cards, I'm a complete novice.

Motherboard https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/H55G43/Specification

I have a 500w power supply.

I have 8g of kingston RAM will be upgrading to 16g

I have the Thermaltake level 10 case

Solution
I think that CPU wont be very good with 1060 however you turn, you need to upgrade it.

Now im not sure where you live and how you can order, since you have DDR3 ram on hand i think you can buy cheap 1150 motherboard and i5 and push it for 3 more years, or going for ryzen or i3/i5-8th gen since i3 is true 4core and i5-8400 is very good option for budget.

If going for ryzen you're gonna need atleast 2666+ ram speed DDR4 and its cheapish option.

Intel doesnt care much about ram speed (unless some games like ROTTR).

And if you are going to upgrade, new psu is required.
Well as far as i know, only knockoff motherboards like ECS (from india) and very , very old motherboards of 775 from 2005 with GEN 1.0 could make compatibility issues.

For upgrading, you need to list specifically what you have of a setup
CPU-
Monitor (resolution)-
PSU (please see on sticker which brand is it)-

Because if you have i3-530 for example and 1080ti, that doesnt make any sense to game on that pc (just an example, please dont be mad at me) because you wont be able to max out games and CPU will hold your GPU.

Hi thanks for the response. Starting from scratch is kinda where I am at i guess. I want to make an editing machine that will edit 4k with relative ease.

Can you tell me if this processor will be sufficient with this graphics card power supply etc

Processor https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0759FKH8K/?tag=logicaincre05-21

GPU https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01I5O5AP2/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&psc=1

RAM https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0143UM4TC/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&psc=1

Motherboard https://www.amazon.co.uk/MSI-Motherboard-Motherboards-Z370-PRO/dp/B075GN9YC4/?tag=logicaincre05-21

Power Supply https://www.komplett.ie/seasonic-focus-plus-650-gold/80048847/product?channable=e38727.ODAwNDg4NDc&gclid=CjwKCAjwt5DXBRAtEiwAa3vyErA7k2xleGVgBFlh7EpfCzYJA_bB_Pg-d8S25VS5hPX_DOseXnKInBoChYIQAvD_BwE

Could you please tell me if I'm missing anything or selected something incompatible?

Thank you so much for your time.

Do you look for overclocking? If not then i5-8400 is best bang for buck or very good and bit pricier alternative i7-8700 which will win in any way.
For GPU or any electornic device usually longer warranty is better.
I think ASRock motherboard Motherboards Z370M PRO4 is better option as it has better memory support.

Choose ram under size https://www.asrock.com/MB/Intel/Z370M%20Pro4/index.asp#Memory
Because you dont wanna instability.

PSU is excellent, 10 year warranty.

Well for editing, usually CPU is under load and GPU while reviewing the scene. (Just FYI)

Now i might be wrong about some items, but i look them upon reviews and that stuff.

And back at i5-8400 vs i7-8700, i5 has 6 cores i7 has 6c/12t soo i7 wins but its 100 pounds more expensive and it will surley beat out i5 in longer use.

And also wait for others to answer, cause more opinions the better it gets.
