PCI Soundcard in a PCI-e slot?

Is there any way (adapter, etc.) to run a PCI Soundcard in a PCI-e slot? I was an external box that might work (?).

Sure, but needs a bridge chip though so such a solution is likely to cost more than a PCIe sound card.

Note the PCI slots on these are usually keyed for 5v like this one, as the manufacturer couldn't be bothered to add a voltage regulator for 3.3v and many SATA power cords no longer have the 3.3v line. The molex is needed to supply 5v because PCIe only has 12v. And note you will need some kind of special case or bracket to secure things, plus it would work better with a low-profile PCI card.

The external ones tend to use a USB cable as an extension cord:
