All of these say they support multi-monitors. Which do you think would

Bob,

i don't know why you'd like to have a PCI gaming card, but i wonder why you
don't go for AGP (or PCIexpress, if your mobo supports it). a PCI gaming
card in your computer will be a serious bottleneck...

Hi Ralph. I already have an AGP card, the Ti4200/128 listed above. As
far as I know I can add a PCI card along with the AGP.

Don't know about XP, but with my last PC with WIN-98se, the second card had
to be m/s "approved" and needed a different driver for secondary use. I had
an old PCI Matrox Mystique that did a nice job, along with the AGP, and new
drivers were available just for that purpose..
And now AGP is over the hill... ayeyeyeyeye

Depends what you are trying to do. If you are going to keep the main 3d
window on the Ti4200 and use the PCI card for a second monitor to undock
windows to (such as radio, gps) then don't spend too much !! - It would be a
waste of money as this card is only producing simple 2d images. I have a
GeForce4 MX (I forget the model -they are all very average) 64Mb and it
works fine.

If however you are going to split the main 3D image - ignore the above

Thanks Steve. What I wanted is a forward and two 45 deg side views. I
know my computer is only 2.6G but I thought I saw some multi-monitor
setups on the web with computers slower than mine.

Hi Bob

OK, I am not sure you need the PCI card then. Your Ti4200 should be able to
handle this in nview, unless you want the panel on another monitor, that
will mean 4 x screens !!

You will need to back the sliders off, but I am sure you knew that.

I was hoping for 3 screens for the forward view. If I don't have to go
full left on the sliders I could use a 4th screen for instruments.

As for approach plates and other items which can be loaded and viewed
outside the Sim, I have a P133 and a P200 sitting beside me for that.
They are too ancient to try anything FS related but an approach plate
looks fine.

Putting the 4th (instrument) screen on a PCI card would reduce some of the
work for the AGP slot, which *may* mean a better front 3d view.

You may have been seeing multiple computers connected through WideFS.. I
have an AthlonXP 3200 and a Radeon 9700 Pro. It works fine with one
monitor for forward view and one monitor for 2D popup panels, but with two
forward views it really chokes.
