Pcie 16x (@4x) WTF???

I recently made an upgrade on a really tight budget, and cuz i had to do it in a hurry i neglected the fine print on gigabytes site.
I have a GA-945GZM-S2 motherboard that stated a 16X Pcie interface, but when i looked closely at the specs it said 16x(@4x). I`m guessing this is a 4x hardware implementation.

Anyway i want to buy a VGA, and I`m concerned that the slot would hold back the card. i was thinking about buying a7600GS or if i can squeeze some more cash in a 8600GT.

Do you guys think thatt i might have a problem???

alot of cheaper motherboards are like this, the video cards will work, dunno about performance tho

I think il go with the 7300GT DDR3, based on Tom`s article, it should provide the full potential.

I ran a 7900GTO on x4PCIE and recently upgraded to a mobo with full 16xPCI.

No massive jump in FPS was seen, I wouldn't be too concerned about it all, a 7900GS or a 8600GT I expect would be fine given what I have experienced. I'd go for 7900GS though for sheer horsepower.

Ok, i got a Inno3D 7600GST, and it seems that the interface doesn't hold this card back at all. I got 2889 on 3dmark06, which compared to some reviews i found, is about a 100 better!
