Okay. Thanks. I was going to invest in a PCIe 3.0 x16 motherboard.Nope , PCIE performance would be almost identical.
Many hardware sites have shown in the past that video cards do not show any performance decrease by running in x8 mode and cannot utilize the larger bandwidth provided by the latest Gen3 specification. However, video cards are getting faster and faster so we felt it this is still true. Also...www.pugetsystems.com
There is a difference. PCIe 3.0 has a wider pipe ( Bandwidth ) than PCIe 2.0. In short, the wider Pipe can handle more information than the narrower 2.0. a PCIe 1.0 lane can handle 250MB/s each way and 2.0 is double that. I am assuming here that 3.0 is triple that. As for the performance, it would seem that it would, but from bench marks I have seen, the difference is negligible.I have one motherboards with (PCIe 2.0 x16) and the other motherboard with (PCIe 3.0 x16)
If I was to install the same graphic card onto these two motherboards, will the PCIe 3.0 x16 slot push out better graphics than the PCIe 2.0 x16?
