Pcie 3.0 stuck at x8 under load

So new build. Msi x99s sli krait, 5820k, 32gb 3200 ram, gigabyte gtx 1080 xtreme. I have the card in pcie slot 1 with no other slots being used. Both gpu-z and inspector say x8.

PCI-E 3.0 x16 @ x8 3.0 is the exact gpu-z under load. Bios pcie lanes are set in 3.0 mode.

Any help is appreciated.

It's most likely a bad read on GPU-Zs part. That being said, even a 1080 is far from saturating a PCIE 3.0 x8 connection so you are not suffering a penalty regardless.

i figured as much. Its just the principle of the matter!

It's a bad read. Don't worry. GPU-Z messes up sometimes.
